I guess I will just list a couple that I have been thinking about, but not in any particular order:
- Electronica. Yes, Shiny Toy Guns, Jonezetta, Freezepop, Darude. I do have a secret love for electronic/experimental pop/rock. It just gets you moving and puts you in a good mood.
- Hard Rock/Metal. Yeah, once again, sometimes when I am in the mood I can really go for some Slipknot, Rammstein, RATM, Shadows Fall, Rise Against, etc. It is great to wake you up in the morning or pump you up for a work out... or maybe brainwash skinheads and incite a riot...
- Mandy Moore. Ok ok... I know. Not proud of it. I got her CDs (I know... yes, it is plural) because I made the mistake of joining a music club and I had a couple more CDs that I had to pick. They didn't have anything else I wanted... and I thought she was hot. So yeah, I basically bought two CDs just to check out the pics of Mandy inside the cover. So sad...
- I do have the Celtic Woman CD, but I don't think that is that embarrassing. They are beautiful Irish women that have amazing voices... why wouldn't you love that?
- Chumbawamba. Need I say more?
- Dragostea Din Tei (aka the "Nooma Nooma" song) by O-Zone. Yeah, I have 5 different versions of the song. It was huge in Europe when I was over there, well before that guy embarrassed himself on YouTube.
- Other than that, other guilty pleasures include Cheeseburger Big Bites from 7-Eleven, Stouffer's Mac 'n Cheese and foreign films.
Artists that I don't like to admit to liking, as it ruins my indie cred:
1. Justin Timberlake (Cry Me a River is amazing)
2. Clay Aiken (only because I'm an American Idol fiend. I usually stop listening to the contestants after the show is over, but Clay is just too good!)
Old school stuff that is lame, but I am proud to be a fan of:
1. Billy Joel (I mean, come on, he's great)
2. Lionel Richie. (Don't judge me.)
Enrique Iglesias
-Celine dion (2 songs)
-Chris Botti (smooth jazz, like adult radio smooth jazz)
-Euro pop (French Affair and KYO)
-A 6-disc 60’s Girl group anthology (The Fabulettes, The Cookies, Lesley Gore…)
-Dirty Dancing Soundtrack FEATURING a song sung by Patrick Swayze.... "She's like the wind"
-Madonna’s Immaculate Collection
-Rod Stewart’s “If you think I’m Sexy”
-Christina Aguilera
-The Big Chill Soundtrack
-Some disco hits including Thelma Houston and the Pointer Sisters
but I have to say I don't feel guilty about having any of this stuff in my library. I love all of it. Also, can I respond to the Billy Joel being lame comment. Who thinks Billy Joel is old-school and lame?? Hello! he is amazing. I have 5 of his albums in my library and they will never be considered a guilty pleasure. and Lionel Richie is great too. So Lauren-Stint you should not feel guilty about either of those, they are both GREAT. Old-school is what made me love music. I totally grew up on oldies.
Also, since when are foreign films guilty pleasures?? Apparently I have no shame.
I also love MTV reality shows, Deal or No Deal and I have a terrible sweet tooth.
Yikes... Let's just say I've got a bunch I'm a little embarrassed about... here goes...
- Hanson - ok, I'm not really embarrassed by this one but others think I should be. Seriously, forget mmmbop and listen to Penny and Me and you'll enjoy it too...
- Techno Remixes - Honestly, they're really good, so screw you... ok, some of them are pretty cheesy and awful, but I enjoy them and that's the point of the post
- Mariah Carey - Always be my Baby - I don't know why I love this song so much, but I really really do. I've even given it a 5 star rating in itunes...
- Ryan Cabrera - Just kidding, I've never actually listened to him. But seriously dan, I really wanted to leave this off and let it die, but somehow I just couldn't do it, I'm not strong enough. I'll never forget the look on your face... hey, I should be embarrassed that I knew he was dating Ashley Simpson... right?
- 80's music - and no, not the cool stuff, the really lame stuff that you say you only listen to as a joke, but you secretly love it
- Mudvayne's video for Dig - This video is an assortment of over the top ridiculousness... but I do love it
- Various Boy Band songs - I want it that way, bye bye bye, yeah, they're all good
So yeah, I probably have a lot more that I haven't even thought of but this list sufficiently embarrasses me. Enjoy!
you bastard.
i mean i knew it was coming. i mean clearly, the Hanson - Cabrera feud is what led to this post in the first place.
the reason I didn't include him is because i don't know if i should be ashamed of having him in my library considering the circumstances under which i purchased the CD. do i listen to him anymore (or ever since that fateful day of revelation)? No, of course not. It goes against everything I believe in and stand for. (ok, well almost everything). your new nickname is Debbie Downer cause you totally ruined something that I was really excited about. Argh! damnit. See what you've done? Go enjoy your teeny-bopper boy-band cluster-f!
Ok so I'm a bit new to this whole blogging thing but here goes. I am a little embarrassed about having 7 or so albums on my itunes which are classed as easy listening or classical. I also have the song Biology by the one-hit-wonder band "Girls Aloud" and I actually like it!
embrace it dan... embrace it...
we can debate the definition of "boy band" 'til we're blue in the face, but the fact remains that yes, mmmbop came out in the very beginning of the boy band craze and it's cheesy like boy band songs and they're all brothers, a novelty - like boy bands. So you could make the argument that if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck... but how about they write their own songs and play their own instruments? and they wrote mmmbop when their oldest member was 16... their new music is really good. embrace it, like i embrace ryan cabrera... do you really think matt wertz would pass up dating a famous socialite? come on...sell out dan... everyone else has
oh yeah...
and I like frasier
